Gift subscription
Note - Utterbond gift option is available for our prepaid subscription plan.
Gifts for prepaid subscriptions offer customers the chance to buy a subscription for someone else, creating exciting opportunities to boost sales and engagement perfectly timed for BFCM (Black Friday and Cyber Monday)!
The gift sender manages the gift subscription. Senders can skip, reschedule, and swap variants if they want to switch.
How to Set up Gift Subscriptions
- Create a prepaid subscription plan with an enabled gifting option to enable the setting.
- Set minimum and maximum billing cycle.
- Once the recipient has received all their deliveries, the subscription will automatically expire.
- Select the products for gifting.

Next, go to the Shopify product detail page for your prepaid subscription. You'll find a "This is a gift" checkbox below the plan selector. Checking this box will reveal a gift form where the purchaser can enter the recipient's name, delivery email address, and an optional gift message. Fill in all recipient's information like first name, last name, delivery email address & notes. After the customer purchases the gift subscription. The recipient receives the gift email.
Identify and manage gift subscription
Open the app and go to the subscriptions section. And search for the gift subscription contract. The subscription is marked with the Gift badge.
Customer and customer tags
If the gift recipient does not exist in your store then we create a new customer and already exists in your store then we add tags to their account such as utterbond_subscription gift_subscription_#<subscription_id> and gift_sender_#<customer_id>.
Text translate support.
We offer multi-language support for customer convenience, including for the text in the gift subscription widget.
Here are the steps:
1. Log in to your Shopify store.
2. Go to the Utterbond Subscriptions App.
3. Select Settings from the menu.
4. Click on the Subscription Widget > Gift to access.
